#YMAMAKINGIT

The Young Makers’ Agency (YMA) was put to the test on Saturday 29 October, when young people were invited to a special taster-style event at The Green Man, SE6.

Showcasing what the YMA can offer 13-19s in the south Lewisham area, fun and creative activities at the event gave youth the opportunity to express themselves and in lots of cases, learn something new. Young people were able to design and print their own t-shirts, make a vlog, leave their mark on a unique live art graffiti piece and more.

Understanding the power of youth, the YMA has real purpose – celebrating youth culture and voice. The new initiative is currently recruiting ‘Young Makers’, 13-19 year olds who want to get involved in projects that will have a positive and lasting impact on the local area.

The day had a great vibe and the response was positive, with around 40 teenagers signing up there and then to become Young Makers.

YMA HUB sessions will now take place at The Green Man every Tuesday (term-time), 5-7pm. At the sessions Young Makers will be working on exciting community projects. Current projects include setting up a new sports court, arranging film nights and creating street art.
